Vodafone UK Samsung Galaxy S Gets Android ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3

As you pretty much to have be aware of at this point, the Samsung Galaxy S has been known to trail immensely when it comes to Android updates. This most likely wouldn’t have been that big of a deal had the Galaxy S not gone on to be one of the most popular Android powered phones to hit the market thus far. Luckily, Samsung has been getting around to release Android ‘Froyo’ 2.2 to just about every version of the Galaxy S here in the US but that still leaves the Gingerbread update in question.

If you’re in the UK looking for some good news or here in the US looking to get jealous then boy do I have some news for you. It was just made known that Vodafone UK has begun rolling out the Android ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3 update for the Samsung Galaxy S today. Yes, today. This means that folks across the pond will actually have a device running the most up to date version of Google’s mobile platform.

Unfortunately this doesn’t really spell out when us here in the US will be getting the update as it’s pretty much any one’s guess at this point. I suppose all we can do now is sit tight and wait it out or flash an unofficial build of Android 2.3 to the device.
